Put chapter 29 up a few days ago.
So it's definitely not one of my best, but as I told one reviewer, they can't all be
So the Dark side is starting to get a little frustrated by the fact that, lately, everything they've tried to do has been thwarted by the Order, save a few kills here and there (such as the McKinnons.) The pureblood riot back in December was abruptly brought to a halt, and many of Voldemort's followers were captured during the attack on Ottery St. Catchpole in January.
The attack on the underground was somewhat successful, but not nearly as much damage was done as what could have been done if the Order wasn't there. The werewolves in the Ministry was a complete failure, and though they managed to kidnap the Minister, he was rescued from right underneath their noses.
So of course Voldemort's going to be pretty ticked off by all of this, he thought he had it in the bag once the Minister was captured. This is my first time writing the Death Eater side of things. It was really hard! And I didn't enjoy it at all. But I am probably going to have to write it a few times more in the future, particularly around the time of the prophecy and Peter's betrayal.
The death that occurred in this chapter was meant to send a message to wizarding Britain, to try to reiterate and prove Voldemort's power, even if he hasn't succeeded yet. Such a prominent wizard as a Bones was killed to scare people and to prove that they could and would still take the Ministry.
Other than that, the biggest thing that happened in this chapter was Petunia's wedding and Lily's realisation that her old family was pretty much gone, and that she has a new family now. I'm really pleased with how the wedding turned out, and absolutely thrilled that I was able to write about it at all, as just a few chapters ago I was worried I wouldn't get the chance or have room for it.
Anyway, I've already gotten started on chapter 30. There's going to a be a little bit of tension within the Order after the second death of one of their members. Things will probably calm down a little with the Dark side while they try to work out new attacks. This is where the three defiances are probably going to come in. The death of Regulus Black is coming up soon, also, as are the giant attacks. The current time in the story is April 1979, so I know if I can just get through the summer, the rest of this story will fly by so fast. (I hope.) In the fall will be James and Lily's wedding, and Lily will become pregnant, and then most of 1980 will be spent dealing with the traitor, the prophecy, and hiding.
